Broader Skills Development
Cosira has recognised that the future of our industry and South Africa's sustained growth and development as global players in the steel construction sector relies on the exchange of, not only skills, but also the transfer of accumulated knowledge that comes with experience.
To this end Cosira has many projects that they believe add value to the future of Cosira leaders, as well as to best practice within the industry.
These are MCD Training in Meyerton, affiliated to technical schools in the area; whereby Cosira is providing teaching staff and facilities for pupils with the ambition and aptitude to be trained as boiler makers.
By the end of the course, pupils will have the equivalent of a technical level qualification and can enrol at MCD for their National Qualifications Framework Level 4 (NQF4) training and trade tests, sponsored by a bursary from Cosira.
In addition, Cosira as an audited and accredited MERSETA* centre will provide them with workplace training and experience, as well as a employment once they have completed their training.
Cosira has also been instrumental in setting up facilities for training for site personnel. This is an initiative designed to empower the rural communities that often surround sites where there is extensive development.
