Detailing remains one of Cosira's core competencies and a critical element of the turnkey process, ensuring fast and efficient construction. Cosira is one of the few South African construction companies equipped with a large in-house draughting department. The draughting office employs 40 staff members, all working on different projects with the latest CAD/CAM 3D Tekla and Strucad modelling technology. This facilitates easy communication and information transfer in formats accepted internationally. Cosira's in-house draughting office allows the company to have control over the quality, time spent as well as costing of all projects executed by the company.
The detailing division has an impact on the entire manufacturing process since the production system starts in the draughting office and runs through to the fabrication facilities.
The Cosira Group has also formed Strategic Collaboration Agreements (SCAs) with draughting offices in South Africa, and in India, which further complements the company's detailing expertise. 3D Tekla Structures and Strucad enables the Cosira Group to be compatible with the most advanced engineering and architect houses in the world. Furthermore, the company has the advantage of being competitive in the global market in terms of accuracy and outsourced solutions.
Therefore, the efficiency of the programmes save the client time and money in terms of the approval process, supplying a number of constructability options. All the steel and metal-cutting processes are fully CNC-operated, and detailed drawings flow from the CAD/CAM system to communicate specifications directly to the CNC equipment. The Cosira Group uses sophisticated materials management and production software such as Fabtrol and Magellan (Material Tracking System), which controls all phases of the process, from document and draughting management to procurement management, fabrication and logistics management. The Magellan platform reports on current project status and allows Cosira to offer real-time progress reports to clients via a secure website format.
