    About Cosira Archery Club

During 2010 a number of outdoor and archery lovers at the Cosira Group started an informal Archery Club, which has since evolved into the official Cosira Archery Club.

The Cosira Archery Club is open to all Cosira employees and their families with or without any prior experience or knowledge of this fun and exciting sport. The Cosira Archery Club is also proud to be associated with the National Archery in the Schools Programme (NASP), as well as the number one ranked archer at the Commonwealth Games, Seppie Celliers.

The Cosira Archery Club presents many opportunities for employees in terms of personal growth and development, entertainment and family activities.  Not to mention friendship and fun.

    News from Cosira Archery Club

Following the recent establishment of the Cosira Archery Club, there have been some exciting developments and an overwhelming response from employees that are keen to join in on the action.

We are now registered with the Gauteng South Sports Affiliation of South Africa. They in turn have registered us with SANIFAA (South African National Indoor and Field Archery Association. This means that while you are a member of our club, you can qualify for provincial, national and protea colours.

Our club now also has two shooting/training ranges. The important one for Cosirian Archers is the training range between the office block and the workshop. It is fully fitted with lights to allow us to train after hours. Last week we also introduced darts as part of the training process. We are using an oversized dart board target and shoot with the bows at a distance of 20 yards instead of throwing a traditional dart.

The second range is in the Vaal Triangle making use of Vaalpark High School facilities. This facility is in the process of being set up and should be up and running within the next two weeks. This is an important resource for our club as it provides our country members and club trainers with an adequate training facility. Among our esteemed trainers we now have the current South African ABO Ladies champion for 2010, three provincial colour bearers and two national colour bearers.

Our club is growing in numbers with more employees lining up to join each week. Already one employee has qualified for provincial colours and we are certain that there will be more in 2011.
