Cosira Communications enters into JV with Strategic Telecommunication infrastructure build partners

15 December 2009

Turnkey telecommunications provider Cosira Communications, a subsidiary of Cosira Towers, which is a subsidiary of the leading steel fabrication and construction solutions group, Cosira, has formed a joint venture (JV) with various strategic partners that have been actively involved in telecommunication infrastructure build for the past 15 years.

Cosira Communications offers turnkey services to the telecommunications industry, providing a complete solution.

“This JV will allow Cosira Communications to gain a stronger foothold in the African telecommunications sector, with the assistance of its partners extensive skills and expertise,” says Cosira Communications operations director David Grobler.

“The Cosira Group has substantial project experience in Africa, and through the JV with its strategic partners will expand its construction focus to specialised telecommunications infrastructure build projects,” Grobler points out.

“In addition, Cosira Communications partners have an excellent track record in the execution and management of large telecommunications projects for major global telecommunications operators, and has since gained a solid reputation in the market,” comments the Cosira Group CEO, John da Silva.

He adds that their strategic partners are specifically experienced in green field site infrastructure builds, satellite station site build, link installations and commissioning, full infrastructure mobile telecommunications turnkey solutions and site power solutions.

“Cosira Communications adds value to the partners operations, as Cosira Communications has construction skills resources, financial clout and management strategies.

We identified the need for organised skills and services related to telecommunication requirements in pan-Africa, and then focused on servicing this market.

Cosira Communications extends beyond manufacturing, focusing on turnkey installation services. These services include civil works, in-country setups, provision and installation of generators, erection of towers, fencing installation and shelter construction.

Working together, Cosira Communications and its partners will ensure rapid deployment on site. This means that teams will work on site for approximately five weeks, before moving on to another project. Different teams will be concentrated in different parts of the country, notes Grobler.

In terms of challenges, Cosira Group CEO John da Silva says that Cosira Communications and their JV partners business goals are very similar, providing a strong synergistic base for the future. “The purpose of the JV is to harness as many opportunities in Africa as possible, working synergistically, as a robust unit,” he concludes.
