Piping Business Unit a new addition for the Cosira Group

26 February 2010

The Cosira Group, one of the largest structural steel fabricators and construction companies in southern Africa, has officially introduced a piping business unit. This move coincides with the Group’s drive to offer turnkey SMEIPP construction solutions to industry.

This is according to Nelo dos Santos, Cosira’s piping business unit manager.

“The introduction of the piping unit means that the Cosira Group will become more efficient in meeting all of our customers’ needs. We will offer the service in-house, alongside all the other divisions in the Group, effectively delivering a true turnkey service solution to the marketplace. This will, ultimately, ensure we are more competitive in the marketplace,” says dos Santos.

He explains that the piping workshop will be fully automated, enhancing the business unit’s efficiency and productivity. This means that the piping unit has the capacity to service a number of industries.

In particular, the unit will actively target the mining and petrochemical sectors. Pipes are customised to suit different applications, especially if abrasive materials are transported.

“For instance, the petrochemical industry requires high pressure piping. Therefore, whatever the customer’s specifications, the Cosira Group has the expertise and skills base to deliver solutions,” adds dos Santos.

Meanwhile, the piping business unit has already been involved in a number of prestigious projects across Africa, namely in mining projects in countries such as South Africa, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique. “All of these projects required piping on the process side,” he comments.

“It is in our greater commercial interest to have established the piping business unit. There is an experienced and passionate team running this operation. It is in line with the Cosira Group’s mission and vision of passion, enthusiasm, customer service and an overall drive for excellence and efficient turnkey solutions in all that we do,” concludes the Cosira Group CEO John da Silva.
