Cosira Communications offers turnkey expertise to global telecommunications market

01 March 2010

Cosira Communications, a business unit of large steel fabrication and construction solutions company, the Cosira Group, will offer the global telecommunications sector radio frequency and fibre optic installation, in addition to site build and civil works services.

This is according to David Grobler, MD of Cosira Communications.

“Initially, the scope of our projects involved fabrication, construction and other civil works. In the interests of offering a turnkey service, Cosira Communications will offer accessories such as radio frequency and fibre optic installation,” says Grobler.

He explains that offering a comprehensive, turnkey, in-country service makes greater sense from the customer’s point-of-view, as there is a single, more efficient point of contact. “Our service adds value - everything is catered to, from the site build to the accessories,” he adds.

Furthermore, Cosira Communications has implemented service-level agreements, whereby customers can rely on the company to provide after-sale services and maintenance. “This means we can consolidate a relationship with the client; as well as to ensure there is longevity and accountability,” says Grobler.

Meanwhile, Cosira Communications has secured contracts in Africa, and is targeting further opportunities on the continent. “Working in Africa is tremendously challenging, however rewarding, and when there is telecommunication infrastructure present, further growth and development invariably occurs,” he notes.

Cosira Communications is based in Mauritius. “Being registered there positions us as a global player tapping into new markets,” adds Grobler.

In terms of how Cosira Communication operates, the business works closely with Cosira Towers, another business unit within the Cosira Group.

Cosira Towers supplies angle iron lattice towers and accessories to Cosira Communications. Going forward, the two entities will ultimately be known as Cosira Communications. This unit will offer in-country services, as opposed to merely supplying larger contractors on telecommunications projects.

Customers can expect that structures will be lightweight and efficient, while handling the required loading. All detailing will be done using a detailing software package, Tekla Structures, ensuring optimum accuracy. Cosira Towers includes foundation design as part of its service offering, so the telecommunication towers are correctly designed to suit site conditions in their specific locations.

“As can be seen, Cosira Communications therefore has ample resources to draw from; and is anticipating the demand for telecommunication and transmission towers in Africa over the next 15-20 years,” concludes Cosira Group CEO John da Silva.
